St. Paul is a beautiful medieval fortified village perched on a narrow spur between two deep valleys. Its location gives you a great view of the village from the La Colle road to the east or the Cagnes-Vence road to the west.
In launching the Festival in 1961, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, "wished to encourage a new form of artistic expression, in the service of peace and understanding for mankind".
Monaco's international status ideally suited the Prince's ambition: to recognize television as an exceptional means of bringing cultures together and enhancing their respective knowledge. This project immediately generated worldwide interest and over the years, many distinguished celebrities have sat on the successive juries, bringing international recognition to the best of television programming. In 1988, H.S.H. Crown Prince Albert II was named President of the Festival.
The best programmes are awarded with the prestigious Golden Nymph, copies of the Salmacis Nymph created by Monaco sculptor, François-Joseph Bosio.
The prize-winner of the International Grand Prix for Author's Documentary is awarded the sum of 10,000 $ from now on and is given the ARMAN trophy, made by this sculptor of world renown. Silver and bronze medals as well as the Martine Filippi Award for Discovery are also given.

The annual list of the world's 50 best restaurants was unveiled in London last night, containing some unpalatable news for those in the UK's culinary scene – and a new No 1. Just three UK restaurants made it on to the list, the publication of which is one of the biggest events in the food world's calendar. This was one fewer than last year, and only half as many as 2008, when six British restaurants were deemed to be among the world's best.

Mainly played and danced in the North-East of Brazil (state of Pernambouco), the Frevo is for the river Capibaribe, a carnival-type music style as emblematic perhaps as that of the jazz for the Mississippi.

Maceo doesn’t necessarily take to this idea: “When you play music and the audience really gets into it, wants to dance, to clap, now that,” he says with a big smile, “that’s what I call funky music”.
Undoubtedly Manu Katché is one of the most unusual and polyvalent drummers on the circuit.
Prestigious patron of the 2010 edition, this “Superman of Soul” also knows how to surprise by his diversity, as his new “Jazz à Juan” jubilee festival project demonstrates, which includes special guests Raul Midon and Lalah Hathaway accompanied by the superb Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her unique voice, charm and stage presence make her a diva on the Gospel scene, but a natural diva, close to her audience, a vestal who sings the past and the future as well as imposing her own songs, in tune with today’s musical styles: soul, funk, rap etc.
